In reviewing some Qemu/KVM/VMWare migration tools, I came across some other interesting file system tools. For my own reference for later:
- dm-crypt: a device-mapper target which provides transparent encryption of block devices using the Linux cryptoapi
- cryptsetup: setup cryptographic volumes for dm-crypt (including LUKS extension)
- Linux LUKS Volumes: Examples
- Portable Encrypted File System on Loop Device
- pv: Monitor the progress of data through a pipe
- dd: using with pv on lvm based devices: dd if=/dev/myvolumegroup/mylogicalvolume bs=4096 | pv | ssh targetmachine dd of=/dev/myvolumegroup/mylogicalvolume bs=4096
- kpartx: Mount raw image files, such as drive images created by dd, also for mounting VM disk images.
And then I ended up at Forensics Wiki with, they say, over 780 pages of content.
